Think Big C644628

Choosing a career is a big deal. It’s your future, your life. If you are researching and trying to decide on a career path, now is a perfect time to check out your options. A career as a CAT Dealer Service Technician can mean big opportunities to get ahead. With a positive attitude, a well-rounded education, and a commitment to on-going learning, your opportunities will be as big or unlimited as your goals.

To develop the next generation of skilled technicians and meet the challenges of advancing technology in our industry, Thompson Machinery has partnered with South Georgia Technical College and other CAT dealers in Caterpillar’s Think BIG program. The Think BIG program has one goal: to produce high-caliber technicians, ready to begin careers as CAT Dealer Service Technicians.

During the two-year program students spend approximately half their time each semester at the South Georgia Technical College campus in Americus, Georgia, completing technical and general education courses. The remaining time is spent at Thompson Machinery in paid working internships. When complete, Thompson Machinery Think BIG Service Technicians earn an Associate of Science degree, and in the following three years, work as full-time entry-level technicians at Thompson Machinery, receiving additional experience and on-the-job training. This intensive method of study and practice develops individuals into the highly skilled technicians Caterpillar and Thompson Machinery demand.

As a CAT Dealer Service Technician, you’ll work on some of the most advanced and hardest working machines in the world. You will be a highly skilled, technically trained, in-demand member of the worldwide CAT dealer family. As you develop the skills, experience and motivation, you’ll have opportunities to advance into new jobs at Thompson Machinery. Your skills will always be in demand because of continuous on-the-job training, CAT’s technology advantage, and Thompson Machinery’s reputation for service excellence.
