Thompson’s employees perform a variety of tasks that are potentially dangerous or environmentally sensitive. Many of the tasks require specific training to meet OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Some of the training requires “hands on"? demonstration to verify proficiency. All of the training requires documentation that the employee received competent academic instruction that resulted in comprehension of the full range of hazards associated with the task.

With our diverse population of employees throughout our facilities, compliance with government mandated training has become an enormous challenge. In 1999, Thompson teamed with Nashville-based PureSafety, one of the nation’s leading online training companies, to deliver most of the required lessons and testing.

The lessons are delivered over a custom designed web site that enables employees to logon at their convenience and view professionally produced videos and PowerPoint presentations that are specific to their job. Written tests are administered during the training session and all lesson completions and test results are automatically recorded in the employee’s personal training file – all in real-time! Supervisors and Department managers receive weekly reports (by email) from PureSafety that highlight compliance and identify problem areas.
