Thompson Machinery has expanded its offerings to the forestry industry with the addition of the Paterson Pacific product line. Peterson wood processing and recycling equipment is a perfect complement to our line of Caterpillar purpose-built forestry machnes.
Peterson is the manufacturer of industry-leading Whole Tree Pulpwood Chippers and Debarkers, Horizontal Grinders, and Blower Trucks. The company began in 1981 as Wilbur Peterson & Sons, a heavy construction company. In July of 2007, Peterson was purchased by Astec Industries, Inc., opening a new chapter in their corporate history.
In 1990 Peterson developed its first wood waste recycling machine, Continuous development of wood grinders has led to the current line of horizontal feed wood grinders. These models have been very well received both in the U.S. and overseas, with production rates up to 150 tons per hour.
With the 2001 acquisition of manufacturing rights for the BloTech line of blower trucks, Peterson has extended its reach into the soil erosion and landscape markets, building trucks designed for distributing bark, mulch, compost, and soil amendments.
Peterson brought the first practical, high-producing horizontal grinder to the recycling market over a decade ago, and has steadily improved on that rock-solid beginning. Today, Peterson’s rugged machines are designed for high-volume producers whose demanding end product specifications leave no room for machines that can’t make the grade.
Peterson revolutionized field chipping with the first portable 5000 chipper in 1989. The benefits included higher yields per acre due to decreased handling and breakage, plus more accepts as the result of chipping fresh wood. The total cost of chips delivered to the digester is reduced. The 5000H model improvements include higher production and lower fuel consumption.
